Robinhood Legend Gaps¶
OVERVIEW¶
Robinhood Legend is the most credible move Robinhood has made for serious traders in years. The question for an active trader isn't whether Legend is good — it's whether Legend covers the research surface your trade decisions actually depend on. Brokers ship execution. Research signal — filings, options analytics, squeeze composites, custom scanners — lives in a different layer.
Legend is free with a Robinhood account. It ships an 8-chart desktop layout, multi-leg options support, futures, and the Cortex AI assistant gated to Robinhood Gold at $5/month. If you trade through Robinhood, Legend is where you should be charting. It is a real upgrade over the Robinhood mobile app.
But Legend is a brokerage front-end. Its job is to execute orders Robinhood routes, and it inherits both Robinhood's strengths and Robinhood's scope. Four gaps active traders run into within a few sessions:

FEATURES¶
Gap 1 — No Sub-90-Second SEC Filing Alerts¶
Legend surfaces basic filings on the ticker page. It does not push the following into a watchlist alert system within 90 seconds of EDGAR posting:
- Form 4 insider buys above $500k from insiders with non-trivial signal history
- 8-K Item 5.02 leadership change filings
- 13G/A activist position filings
- 8-Ks announcing strategic alternatives or surprise dividend cuts
Cortex AI can answer natural-language questions about your portfolio. It does not fire push notifications on real-time EDGAR filings.
Gap 2 — No Deep Options Analytics¶
Legend supports options trading and order entry. It does not surface the following as dedicated research layers:

Cortex AI provides natural-language options summaries. It does not replace a dedicated options analytics layer.
Gap 3 — No Custom-Criteria Real-Time Scanner¶
Cortex AI offers AI-driven scan discovery through natural-language queries. It does not support explicit, reproducible filter logic of the form:
- Float under 20M
- RVOL above 5
- Gap percent above 4
- News catalyst present
Tip
Active traders depend on reproducible filter logic — the same scan running every morning, with output sortable by float ascending. Cortex AI's curated discovery results are useful for exploration but are not a replacement for a custom scanner in the small-cap workflow.
Gap 4 — No Halt, LULD, or Premarket Alerts at Depth¶
Legend's alert system is built for price and position events. It does not cover the following market structure signals at the depth the active trader workflow requires:
