Tapeboard - Getting Started

OVERVIEW

Tapeboard is a brutalist market terminal for retail. Mono UI, dark theme, sidebar on the left, every surface reachable in two keystrokes. Pre-market through after-hours covered. If you've used a professional trading terminal before, you already know the muscle memory — this page just maps it.

What it is

A single-pane terminal with a fixed left sidebar (§MARKETS, §TRADE, §RESEARCH, §MACRO, §TOOLS, §COMMUNITY), a ⌘K command palette for ticker jumps, and a status row at the bottom showing live data latency. No icons in the expanded sidebar — text only.

When to use it

Note

Open this page once, on first login. After that, you live in /scanner, /charts, /research/<TICKER>, and /alerts.

HOW TO USE

First 10 Minutes

  1. Hit ⌘K and type a ticker — say NVDA. The command palette is your jump-to-anywhere; it routes to /research/NVDA.
  2. Press ⌘2 to open the Scanner. The default layout auto-switches by session — pre-market before 9:30, market-open for the first hour, power-hour after 3:00 PM ET.
  3. Click any row in the scanner. The chart opens inline below it. Press F to fullscreen, Esc to close.
  4. From the chart, press R to jump to that ticker's Research page — AI summary, financials, insider flow, earnings, news.
  5. Press ⌘3 to land on Charts directly. Switch timeframes with the 1–9 number row (1 = 1-min, 5 = 1H, 7 = daily). Drawings save per-ticker, per-account.
  6. Set a price alert: open the right-click menu on the chart's price axis, or go to /alerts. Free tier gets three; Pro is unlimited.

Tip

The ⌘K command palette accepts ticker symbols, page names, and > commands. It is your fastest path to anywhere in the terminal.

The sidebar groups every surface in the product:

  • §MARKETS — DASHBOARD ⌘1, SCANNER ⌘2, CHARTS ⌘3, HEATMAP
  • §TRADE — SIMULATOR ⌘6, JOURNAL ⌘7 — the practice-then-review loop, both free, sitting at the top of the nav
  • §RESEARCH — RESEARCH ⌘4, OPTIONS, FILINGS, INSIDER, NEWS
  • §MACRO — ECONOMIC ⌘5, FOREX, CRYPTO, BONDS, COMMODITIES, CALENDAR
  • §TOOLS — ALERTS, INBOX, OPTIONS_FLOW, GAMMA_EXPOSURE, CORRELATION, BREADTH, INSIDER_SCAN, IDEA_TRACKER, BACKTEST
  • §COMMUNITY — IDEAS, AI_HISTORY, BLOG, WIKI

Active row gets a 2 px green left-accent and a faint green wash. Collapse the sidebar with the chevron at the bottom — it'll snap to icon-only mode and reclaim the horizontal real estate for charts.

Note

The §TRADE group is deliberately near the top: the Simulator and the Trading Journal are the stickiest loop in the product (practice a setup, close it, watch it auto-log and score), and both are free, so they're placed where you'll actually find them rather than buried deeper in the menu. Jump straight to them with ⌘6 (Simulator) and ⌘7 (Journal).
