§02 CHARTS¶
OVERVIEW¶
Tapeboard Charts is the full charting workstation behind every quote, scanner row, and research page. It renders nine chart types, carries a 19-tool drawing engine with magnet snapping and per-symbol persistence, 83 technical indicators (configurable, templatable, plus your own custom formulas), an 84-pattern auto-detector, a split/dividend/earnings event layer, a TradingView-style crosshair Data Window, an Object Tree for managing everything you've drawn, and — on Pro — multi-chart layouts of one, two, or four color-linked panels. Drawings save per-symbol and sync across your devices.
A single pane defaults to candles with a volume sub-pane and intraday VWAP. From there you layer on indicators, drawings, pattern highlights, and event markers — all of which the branded PNG export composites so the image you download matches the screen. The whole surface lives at /charts, but the same AdvancedChart engine renders inside the scanner workspace, research pages, and the simulator replay cockpit, so the toolset is identical wherever a chart appears.

Chart Types¶
Nine chart types are available. Right-click the chart and select Chart type, or use the bottom-left chart-type switcher. Selection is persisted per device.

Synthetic Chart Types
Renko, Range, and Line Break are synthetic — Tapeboard transforms real candles into bricks/bars in the browser. Every indicator, the Volume Profile, the crosshair, and the Data Window compute against those synthetic bars so overlays stay aligned. VWAP is suppressed on synthetic types because the time axis is non-uniform.
The price scale can be toggled independently between Linear, Logarithmic, and Percent from the right-click Scale submenu.
Drawing Tools¶
Click [ DRAW ] in the toolbar to arm the drawing engine. 19 tools are organized into five category dropdowns.
Lines¶

Magnet Mode
Toggle MAGNET in the toolbar to snap drawing endpoints to OHLC values on the nearest bar, improving placement precision when marking exact highs, lows, opens, or closes.
Indicators¶
83 technical indicators are available in total, all configurable and templatable. Custom formulas are supported.

Indicators can be saved as templates and applied across symbols. Custom formula indicators let you write your own expressions on top of the standard library.
Pattern Detection¶
84 chart patterns are detected automatically and surfaced as an overlay layer. The auto-detector runs against the active chart and highlights recognized patterns directly on the price pane.
Events Layer¶
A split, dividend, and earnings event layer can be toggled on the chart. Events render as markers on the date axis so you can see how price behaved around corporate actions and earnings releases.
Data Window¶
A TradingView-style crosshair Data Window displays OHLCV values for the bar under the crosshair, plus the current value of every active indicator. The Data Window updates in real time as you move the cursor across the chart.
Object Tree¶
The Object Tree panel lists every drawing, indicator, and annotation currently on the chart. From the Object Tree you can show, hide, lock, or delete individual objects without clicking them on the chart surface.
Multi-Chart Layouts (Pro)¶
Pro Feature
Multi-chart layouts require a Pro subscription.
Pro users can split the workstation into 1, 2, or 4 panels. Panels are color-linked — assigning the same color group to multiple panels keeps them on the same symbol, so changing the symbol in one panel updates all linked panels simultaneously.

The standard pre-open workflow is a 1m / 5m / 1D triple in a 4-pane layout as a quick "is this still a setup?" confirmation check.
Drawing Persistence and Sync¶
Drawings are saved per symbol and synced across your devices automatically. Every level, trendline, and annotation you place on a symbol is waiting for you the next time you open that symbol — on any device.
PNG Export¶
The branded PNG export composites all active indicators, drawings, pattern highlights, and event markers. The exported image matches the screen exactly.
HOW TO USE¶
Open the workspace
- Navigate to
/charts - Append a ticker to land directly on a symbol:
/charts?symbol=NVDA
Select a chart type
- Right-click anywhere on the chart and select Chart type, or
- Use the chart-type switcher in the bottom-left corner of the chart.
Add a drawing
- Click [ DRAW ] in the toolbar.
- Select a tool from the category dropdowns.
- Click or drag on the chart to place the drawing.
- Use the MAGNET toggle to snap endpoints to OHLC values.
Add an indicator
- Click the Indicators button in the toolbar.
- Search or browse to the indicator.
- Click to add it; configure inputs and style in the settings panel.
- Save indicator combinations as a template for reuse across symbols.
Manage drawings and indicators
- Open the Object Tree to view all active objects.
- Toggle visibility, lock, or delete individual items from the Object Tree without touching the chart.
Export the chart
- Use the export control in the toolbar to download a branded PNG composite of the current view.
Set up a multi-chart layout (Pro)
- Select a layout from the layout picker — 1, 2, or 4 panels.
- Assign a color group to each panel.
- Panels sharing a color group stay synchronized on the same symbol.
