§12 RESEARCH - Fundamentals

Note

Fundamentals data is surfaced through the Research dossier at /research/:symbol. There is no standalone /fundamentals route.

OVERVIEW

Fundamentals is the financials surface inside the Research dossier. It consolidates three financial statements, a metrics grid, analyst estimates, earnings surprise history, and a peer comparison strip into a single tabbed interface.

The header shows the live quote, extended-hours mark where applicable, baseline metrics (P/E, EPS, dividend yield, 52-week range, average volume), and deeper ratios — forward P/E, PEG, EV/EBITDA, margins, ROE/ROA/ROIC, debt/equity, current/quick ratios, beta, payout ratio, short percent of float, and SMAs.

Dividend and split history covers ex-date and amount, with payment, declaration, and record dates filled in where available for Nasdaq- and NYSE-listed names. Foreign tickers are supported including estimates and peers.

HOW TO USE

  1. Open /research/<TICKER>. The header shows the live quote, extended-hours mark, and chart.
  2. Press F to open the Financials tab. Select Income Statement, Balance Sheet, or Cash Flow. Toggle Annual or Quarterly.
  3. Press O to open the Overview tab for the full metrics grid — valuation, profitability, leverage, liquidity, and trading metrics in one panel.
  4. Press E to open the Estimates tab for analyst revenue and EPS forecasts with consensus, high, and low per period.
  5. Navigate to the Earnings Surprises view for the prior-quarter EPS estimate vs. actual with surprise percentage and BEAT/MISS tag.
  6. Press P to open the Peers tab for the side-by-side comp strip.
  7. Use the [ COMPARE ] button in the header to load a second ticker for the metric strip.

Tip

Before an earnings trade, check the surprises history. Companies that have beaten estimates for six or more consecutive quarters tend to beat again; serial missers tend to miss. Earnings revisions relative to last quarter's print matter more than the absolute consensus number.

Tip

Before any swing trade longer than a day, pull the 5-year financials and check revenue trend, gross margin direction, and free cash flow generation. Then cross-reference the peer comp strip to assess whether the current multiple is stretched or compressed relative to the cohort.

KEYBOARD SHORTCUTS

The interface features an overlay dropdown menu titled SHORTCUTS that provides direct, single-key navigation across different corporate and financial analysis tabs.

LIMITS

Note

  • Refresh cadence: Financials update on the order of minutes, not seconds.
  • Restatement lag: Restated 10-Qs lag the original filing by approximately 3 days while numbers reconcile. Restatements overwrite the prior value — there is no diff view between the original and restated figures.
  • Foreign issuers: Tickers without 20-F filings may return empty rows. Check the Filings tab for the latest available period.
  • Recent IPOs: Issuers with fewer than 4 quarters of reporting history will not fill the free 4-period grid.
  • Analyst estimates: Capped at 4 forward periods plus price-target consensus.
  • Peer list: Top 5 peers by classification, selected automatically and not user-editable from this surface.
